Red Wine

Another beverage that has certainly withstood the test of time alongside each historic phase humanity has gone through, is our favourite full-bodied friend, red wine. What is a passionate Italian declaration of love without some reference to wine? It’s a cultural classic.

The deep shades of burgundy, red, and intense violet come from the anthocyanin pigments contained in a grape’s skin. Red wine has also been heralded as the drink of choice for ladies’ nights and remains a delicacy enjoyed by everyone, from the local pub goers through to 5-star diners in the most prestigious restaurants.

Red wine is typically enjoyed with fine dining cuisine and relished for its food pairing abilities. Each category of red wine brings its own richness to the palate, either dancing delicately on the tongue or packing a punch as it hits the throat. Red wine is also relished for its ability to intensify and showcase the flavours of accompanying food. Think of a Sangiovese with a rich Italian lasagne that’s, complimenting the indulgent rich cheese and creamy sauce. Or the classic Merlot with slow-roasted beef and caramelised vegetables on the side. There is an abundance of lower alcohol wine alternatives, so there’s no need to skimp on your favourite pairing wine with food.

If you are embracing a low alcohol lifestyle, you can continue your avid love affair with red wine. The low or zero alcohol options available in the wine category certainly do not compromise on taste, quality or variety.

The wines featured on our site are strictly at 1% or below, falling into the category of low alcohol, alcohol-free, zero-alcohol or de-alcoholised.

For those avoiding all alcohol for health reasons, please get your doctor’s go-ahead before you indulge.
